Platelet Rich Plasma
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)
Your blood is made up of four main components: red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets, and plasma. Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a platelet concentrated component in your blood that contains nutrient cells and protein growth factors. When this is separated out and injected into the skin or used topically following microneedling, it helps reduce fine lines, texture, scarring, stretch marks and more. PRP can even be used to stimulate hair growth.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) CONSULTATION & TREATMENT
All new patients of Soul Aesthetics start with a thorough consultation to determine which treatment is the right for you. Education is a very important aspect of the consultation so all of the risks and benefits of each treatment will be discussed. If it is decided to proceed with PRP, your blood will be drawn and put into a centrifuge that spins the blood and separates out the platelet rich plasma. The separated plasma is a clear yellow color and we like to refer to it as "liquid gold." This is then used topically after microneedling and/or injected into the skin in areas of greatest concern such as under the eyes, smile lines, lip lines, neck lines, or scars.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) DOWNTIME
If only injecting PRP, you may have some mild swelling and bruising following your treatment. If this is used in combination with microneedling, you will have some redness of your skin with some pinpoint bleedling. You should not wear makeup for 24 hours and only use the products given to you by your provider.
PLATELET RICH PLASMA (PRP) RESULTS
Typically it takes 90 days to stimulate collagen. It is recommended to do a series of treatments with or without microneedling for best results. Usually 3 treatments spaced 1 month apart is appropriate and then every 6 months for maintenance. Deep wrinkles or acne scarring may require more treatments.
